AC Not Cooling: Troubleshooting Guide

When an air conditioner blows warm air during a Bidar summer, comfort disappears quickly. Many AC cooling problems are caused by clogged filters or maintenance that has been put off. This guide covers the common reasons an AC stops cooling, the checks you can do safely, and when to book a professional AC service.

Clean or replace the air filters

Dirty filters are the number one reason an AC stops cooling well. Clogged filters block airflow, ice up the coils and strain the system.

Switch off the unit, remove the front panel, and wash the filters under running water every two to four weeks during heavy use. Let them dry fully before refitting.

    Check the thermostat and mode

Make sure the AC is set to “Cool” mode and the target temperature is below room temperature. Replace remote batteries if the display is unresponsive.

Inspect the outdoor unit and coils

The outdoor condenser unit needs clear airflow. Remove leaves, dust and debris from around it, and gently clean the condenser fins.

Dirty indoor or outdoor coils reduce heat transfer and weaken cooling. A professional service includes a deep coil clean.

    Low refrigerant gas

If the AC runs constantly but only blows mildly cool air, refrigerant levels may be low — often due to a leak. Recharging gas and fixing leaks requires certified equipment and must be done by a technician.
